Hotelli Tallukka
The story of Hotelli Tallukka began in 1970 when a landscape hotel opened on Pirppulan harju, between Vesijärvi and Päijänne, serving also as a motor hotel for travelers on the old Route 4. However, the name Tallukka dates back to the 1850s, when the local tallukka men from Asikkala became known for their work handling the machinery of Päijänne’s first steamship at the Vähä-Äiniö dock. A “tallukka” (or “tallukas”) is a sturdy shoe traditionally used in Häme and Satakunta, especially during winter. This notable piece of Asikkala’s history lives on in the name Tallukka as well as in the logo, where tireless tallukka men push the cart steadily forward. Today, Tallukka remains a relaxed and vibrant hotel with a touch of 1970s retro charm.
