On November 15, Forenom Aparthotel Stockholm South will open in Flemingsberg. It is an extended stay hotel where all the apartments have their own kitchen. It is the first hotel to open in the region, and will help to both reduce housing shortages and improve recruitment possibilities for Stockholm-based companies.
“The housing shortage has posed a recruitment problem for many growing businesses in the Stockholm area. We want contribute to resolving this problem by providing a combination of the best elements of a traditional hotel and permanent housing,” explains Forenom Sweden’s CEO Mats Lidström.
The Forenom hotel chain specializes in long-term accommodation, although many of the guests are normal tourists who just want to visit Stockholm for a weekend. On November 15, the Forenom Aparthotel Stockholm South will open in Flemingsberg. It will be the chain’s flagship hotel.
The hotel has 205 rooms that range in size from 15-55 square meters; every unit has its own kitchen. Some rooms have a washing machine, and there is also a laundry room in the building.
“Forenom helps companies and their employees to short- and long-term accommodation, and thus acts as an intermediary of sorts for both the housing and labour markets. We ensure that our guests feel at home, even when they’re not sleeping in their own bed,” says Mats-Erik Lidström.
Forenom Aparthotel Stockholm South’s target clientele include consultants, construction workers and healthcare professionals who require temporary accommodation for longer periods, as well as traditional hotel guests.
Flemingsberg is a rapidly growing area that until now has lacked a hotel. It is situated midway between Stockholm and the industrial city of Sodertalje, and is a hub for commuter trains. The area is home to several colleges and universities, the Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, and a legal centre.
Forenom is the market leader among extended stay hotels in both Finland and Norway. The company’s new goal is to become the largest hotel chain of its kind in Sweden as well. By the end of 2017, Forenom will have more than doubled its lodging offerings in Sweden, expanding the total number of units from 150 to 450 apartments.
