Kesko and Forenom to introduce modern Aparthotel in Porvoo, Finland

Kesko and Forenom are joining forces to enrich the picturesque townscape of Porvoo with a new kind of development project where everyday life meets diverse tourism opportunities. The building complex will be built next to the Taidetehdas venue in the Länsiranta area on the west bank of Porvoonjoki, and will feature a K-Citymarket hypermarket, 50 apartments, as well as a high-quality aparthotel with 51 residences. The resulting city block will be a pioneer of urban development, an attractive new hub for shopping, living, and culture on the riverbank.

The apartments are fully equipped, including a kitchen and all appliances.

The new Forenom aparthotel will consist of 51 fully equipped residences, ranging from studios to spacious two and three-bedroom units. Each residence will include a kitchen and all necessary household appliances, catering to both short-term tourists and long-term business travelers. There will also be residences with their own private saunas and balconies.

The modern apartment hotel will offer top-notch services. Guests can enjoy hotel-quality beds, thoughtfully designed interiors, cleaning and breakfast services, and a prime location near the attractions of Porvoo.

Ease and swiftness characterize the modern customer experience of the hotel, as it will be possible to book and identify also online and check-in conveniently with a personal entry code. The aparthotel will be built to meet high environmental standards, aiming for the BREEAM Very Good certification that is awarded only for excellent environmental performance.

Founded in Finland in 2001, Forenom is renowned for its capability to provide accommodation services to businesses on a European scale. The new venture in Porvoo will further expand Forenom’s service offering, also to new target groups in Finland.

By the spring of 2027, the Länsiranta area will emerge as a vibrant and attractive center for shopping, living, and events, serving both local residents and tourists. The strength of this concept lies in its ability to meet the needs and desires of various target groups by allowing for different forms of accommodation.

“Our project’s commencement is a really significant step in developing the services of the Taidetehdas area. By collaborating closely with local stakeholders, we want to create something new in Porvoo, and Forenom was the best choice as the hotel operator in the project thanks to the versatility of their service concept,” says Mika Sivula, District Director of Southern Finland at Kesko.

“We are proud to partake in an international-level development project that introduces a new type of accommodation to Porvoo. Being one of Finland’s tourism gems, increasing the accommodation capacity of the city is important for Porvoo. The new aparthotel will provide our key customers with more options as well as expand our offering to new segments,” says Jussi Saarinen, CEO at Forenom.
