Forenom is set to open a brand-new aparthotel in the heart of Kuopio, on Snellmaninkatu, at the beginning of 2025. This exciting project will offer over 40 home-like residences and will be located in the historic former main building of Kuopion Energia.
The old building will undergo renovation and will be connected to a new building with a seamless interior connection. The development will consist of 41 apartments, two commercial spaces, and an underground parking facility. The local construction company, RP-Karmi Oy, will be responsible for the project, while Forenom, the largest player in the industry in the Nordic countries, will operate the aparthotel under a ten-year lease agreement.
Once completed, the aparthotel will cater to both business travelers and leisure tourists who seek a homelike accommodation experience. The property will offer apartments of various sizes, ranging from studios to three-bedroom units, with the largest apartments covering an area of 74 square meters.

We have an incredibly significant project in terms of local history, as the building originally served as the headquarters of Savo-Karjalan Tukkuliike Oy and later as the main office of Kuopion Energia for decades,” explains Jarkko Mattila, the CEO of RP-Karmi.

In line with sustainable development practices, Forenom is repurposing old buildings and giving them a new lease of life as accommodation solutions. Previously, Forenom has transformed various properties, including an old bank, a prison, and several office buildings that had reached the end of their usable lifespan, throughout the Nordic countries.
