New legislation opens up the corporate housing market in Sweden

On 1 July, new legislation comes into force that changes the conditions for corporate housing in Sweden. For companies managing accommodation for their staff, it means more options, clearer rules and a market that finally reflects how businesses actually operate.

For a long time, corporate housing in Sweden has lacked a clear legal framework. The new legislation changes that, recognising corporate housing as its own category for the first time.

  • Wider accommodation availability across Sweden, as more property owners can now partner with operators like Forenom
  • Agreements are signed by the company as a legal entity and tied to a specific employee or project, ensuring full clarity and control
  • The employee can cover the cost themselves or receive the accommodation as a staff benefit, whichever works best
  • Flexible accommodation agreements of up to one year, well suited for projects, secondments and temporary assignments
  • Clearer rules for block leasing bring transparency and security for all parties

For the first time, legislation recognises corporate housing as its own category: service-led, fully furnished and built to flex. That is exactly how Forenom works. We are also developing our digital services to meet the new opportunities — more on that soon.
